Local radio host Dave Williams was inducted into the National Association of Farm Broadcasters, Jan. 2nd 2006.The last N.A.F.B. member from Penn. was in 1957, also the first fulltime farm broadcaster in the U.S. was Frank Mullen with KDKA in Pittsburg Penn. in 1921. He extended his broadcasting career in 1926 to NBC, to found the first farm network program The National Farm Service Home Hour. The interesting coincidence to Mr.Williams is that N.A.F.B. was organized in1944, the same year that Mr. Williams was born. Pictured above, Dave Williams and Max Armstrong, at the American Farm Bureau Convention in Nashville Tennessee, being congratulated by Max and other members of N.F.B.A. Max Armstrong is one of the most widely recognized agricultural journalists in America and is co-founder of This week in Agribusiness, a very popular show on the RFDTV television station. This syndicated broadcast has been seen weekly since 1977 on over 180 local television stations across America.
